The Write Class

“Teach the writer, not the writing.”

LUCY CALKINS

For writers that are ready to learn, but not ready for one-on-one coaching.

The Write Class is a class to help you write, and get better while doing it. These classes are part lecture, part discussion and examples from YOUR works in progress (WIPs), and part body-doubling writing. We don’t know what we don’t know, so the lecture portion of each class is to address writing and revision topics that strengthen your story and writing. The discussion and examples come from you, the students, rather than already-published novels. This is so that you a) don’t get discouraged by comparing your draft to completed novel, and b) you don’t tune out because you haven’t read that story, and c) so that you are getting specific solutions to help push your story forward. Body-doubling writing means that we will be writing in the call–separately, but together. Sometimes it can be easier to get something done when someone else is there, and it is easier to move forward if you know someone is there if you need help. Stay tuned for dates and times, but if you have a specific topic you would like turned into a class, please don’t hesitate to email me!

*As a special client bonus, any active EditElle clients are able to participate in The Write Class without further charges.*

"Elle Fort is an excellent story editor.

"She reads carefully and gives kind, gentle, and perfectly tailored feedback to make your stories shine. As a multi-USA Today Bestselling author, I was upfront about my specific needs and she has continually exceeded all my expectations. I have hired Elle for multiple projects. She's at the top of my list as soon as I finish a book. She's fast, professional, and gives excellent insights that other editors have missed. I highly recommend Elle Fort."

"Elle has been my writing coach on a few different projects over the past couple of years."

"Her knowledge of the craft, constant support, and unflinching belief that I can and will write the story in my head, are the reason I have completed the first draft of my debut novel. She tailors her coaching approach to my specific needs and gives me the constructive feedback I need to push forward and get my stories written. If you're like I was—spending hours in front of a computer spinning your wheels, struggling to make progress in your writing and unsure of what you're doing wrong—book a consultation with Elle. "I began working with Elle early into my self-publishing career and it has been one of my biggest blessings as an author."

"She has been a pillar in building my craft as my editor, my coach, and at times as a confidant.
I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for Elle's patience, expertise, and advice.  She's always speedy with her responses and emails, encouraging when I've felt discouraged, and praised me when I questioned my growth.
I've come to learn how incredibly important it is to have a trusting relationship with your editor, and Elle is one of my first points of contact whenever I need guidance in a novel. I am thankful everyday for hiring her when I was a baby author trying to get my sea legs, and look forward to working with her again!"

"Elle’s work is fast and precise and she has a killer eye for detail.
